Member Consultant for Georgia Senior Chapters: Dan Kochan

Dan Kochan has been a member of SME since 2005 and has performed several rolls as a chapter officer since 2006. Dan has also been a Manufacturing Engineer with Seasons 4 in Douglasville, GA since 2005. Seasons 4 is a custom manufacturer of commercial HVAC equipment. His primary duties revolve around design and quality improvement as well as manufacturing process improvements. He previously worked in the field of aviation maintenance for 18 years. Dan holds a BSAST degree from Thomas Edison State College.

George is a Project Management Technical Section Manager and Associate Vice President at CHA consulting. George has over 30 years’ experience in manufacturing operations, as well as expertise with material handling and delivery systems, manufacturing converting equipment, automation and packaging, infrastructure support systems, and energy reduction programs. He is responsible for the project management, financial planning and business development of CHA’s Manufacturing & Energy Market. George holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree from Lehigh University.

Retention Chair: Malay Desai

Malay Desai joined SME in 2015. Malay is working with Arol North America in Suwanee, GA as Product Engineering Manager looking after Arol North America’s engineering and manufacturing program. Arol North America manufactures packaging machines. Malay has background in packaging machine design and manufacturing and he has been working in packaging machine manufacturing field for 24 years. Malay also runs SolidWorks Users Group for North Atlanta area. His group members meets every other month for networking, technical presentations and knowledge sharing. Malay has graduated in Production Engineering from South Gujarat University in India. He holds diploma in Project Management from Humber College in Toronto.

 

 

Treasurer:  Stuart Mcrae

Stuart McRae is a professional engineer, licensed in the State of Georgia, with a background in research and development leading to commercial products. His experience includes program management, product design and engineering, process and supply chain development, and commercial product production. He has played key design and development roles as a consultant and full time employee for several medical manufacturers such as AerovectRx, Scientific Compliance, and Altea’s. As a result of his efforts, Stuart is an inventor on twenty US and international patents.

In 2007 Jacqueline became a member of SME through her Employer, TwinEngines, Inc. and formally joined the Atlanta SME Program Committee in 2016. She has been at TwinEngines since 2006 and wear many hats, however, her main roll is as the Marketing and Business Development Executive. TwinEngines, Inc. helps manufacturers and product service companies improve their workflows and visibility of operations by aligning business processes and line-of-business systems. With years of schooling and training, she has acquired many certifications and is currently earning her B.S. in Marketing from Georgia State University.  

 

 

Membership Consultant for College Student Chapters: Dr. Phillip (Phil) Waldrop

Phil Waldrop has been a member of SME since 1976, has chaired two senior chapters and served as a steering committee member of the SME Manufacturing Education & Research Community, among other roles. He taught in Georgia Southern's B.S. degree program in Manufacturing/Industrial Management from 1995 until retirement in 2011, and also served as the faculty advisor of the SME student chapter. He still teaches online graduate courses in Engineering Management and serves as an advisor to the Manufacturing Engineering program. He has worked in industry in a variety of roles ranging from production machine operator and CNC programmer to Director of Advanced Manufacturing, with the majority of his time managing aerospace manufacturing technology R&D and industrial modernization programs.  His educational background is primarily Industrial Education, with a B.S. from Ball State University and PhD from Purdue University.

Web Address Student Chapter Web Site Dr Simin Nasseri– SPSU Faculty Advisor Dr Nasseri was a Senior Research Associate (Senior Scientist)/ Lecturer at Sydney University, Australia, where she earned her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. She is currently teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department at Southern Polytechnic State University. Dr Nasseri has been the advisor to the student chapter of SME at SPSU since Fall of 2006.

John is the Director of the Georgia's Center of Innovation for Manufacturing, which is part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Previously he worked as a Research Engineer and the Director of Manufacturing Education Programs at the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI). Prior to joining Georgia Tech he worked in process optimization and cost reduction in the consumer electronics industry, including three years in a production facility in Humacao, Puerto Rico. John has served the Atlanta Chapter as treasurer, chair elect, and chairman, as well as SME national in the roles of MCon for the Southeast region, and as a member of the Leadership Development Task Group. He holds a B.S.M.E. from Cornell University, a B.A. in Physics from Ithaca College, and an M.B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
