Skilled Trades by the Numbers: Using Quantitative Data & Integrated Virtual Reality to Train Welders More Efficiently
In conjunction with the Columbus Technical Societies, SME's Columbus Chapter 36 is happy to invite you to the upcoming "Skilled Trades by the Numbers: Using Quantitative Data & Integrated Virtual Reality to Train Welders More Efficiently" event.
The evening will include a meal and presentation by Asst. Professor Scott Laslo, as well as the opportunity for hands-on welds in the CSCC weld lab. Attendees will be split into 2 groups and alternate between the meal/presentation and the welding lab. Welders will have the opportunity to create a small welding project and practice MIG welding.
In addition, demonstrations of the RealWeld integrated virtual reality weld system and the Lincoln VRTEX virtual reality weld simulator will be provided.
Minimum requirements hands-on welding:
1) At least 9 years old,
2) Blue jeans or work pants, with no holes or frayed cuffs,
3) Long sleeve shirt (cotton),
4) Closed-toed shoes (Boots are preferred). Additional PPE will be provided.
Schedule:
5:30-6 p.m. = Registration, Social and Lincoln VRTEX
6-8 p.m. = Meal, Presentation & Hands-on welding opportunity
8 p.m. = CSCC program tour (optional)
