We kicked the year off right with fun and networking. The chapter enjoyed a great steak dinner at Cattlemen’s in Petaluma, while learning about manufacturing sustainability from an award winning UC Davis Professor, Dr. Barbara Linke. Dr. Linke heads the Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies Laboratory at UC Davis and she presened on the Life Cycle and Sustainability of Grinding Tools. She has conducted extensive research on sustainable manufacturing and abrasive machining technologies, is the recipient of 2013 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer award by SME and the F.W. Taylor Medal by CIRP, The International Academy for Production Engineering. Dr. Linke is the faculty advisor for the student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at UC Davis.
We announced our 2015 Chapter Board members and shared some exciting information about our Chapter goals, plans and programs for the coming year. The dinner was well attended by professionals from area companies and organizations including 101MFG, Trivascular, SMC Ltd, General Dynamics, Medtronic, SPT, Schunk, Saber Engineering, among many others.
