It's Graduation Time...Is Your Student Engagement On Track?

As of April 30, 2018, there were 451,000 manufacturing job openings — or 7.4 percent of total private job openings of 6,117,000. As we head into summer and look toward fall, we wanted to take a moment to offer a few important reminders and suggestions on student engagement, particularly as students will be instrumental in filling the manufacturing workforce pipeline:

- Buy a grad an SME membership to help with retention and professional development ($45/graduating student).
- Encourage student members to post their resumes and/or search for jobs on SME Jobs Connection, or post an internship.

- Succession planning is essential for a successful chapter. Have you considered a student chapter member/emerging professional for an officers position or asked for assistance with a student chapter?
- Engagement at all levels is important. How can your chapter engage with student members?
