On Monday, August 13th, 2018, Chapter 233 Board meeting took place at East Los Angeles College. Chairman Gary Pangelina was joined by Chair Elect David Rosenfield, Secretary Julio Guzman, Retired Chapter Treasurer Ron MacIver, Newly appointed Communications Chair, Kamy Khashayar. Other attendees included students from ELAC including the School's MFG Associations Student Chairperson Ashley Orta, Jose Omedo of CSUN and other Students Joined us. We were very happy to introduce our new Webmaster for 233, James Brandt, replacing ailing Manny Parras (we all wish Manny a speed recovery).
It was agreed that we would have an all 233 Mixer at ROMAC October 12 in the evening. The group voted on a budget for the mixer. We also agreed to invite SouthBay Chapter 153. Gary, Kamy and David all accepted assignments to reach out to officers of 153 to see if they would be interested in joining us. It was also agreed that ELAC Students would make direct phone calls to 233 Members to invite them, along with our email campaign to make everyone aware.
Finally and most importantly for this meeting, SME Headquarters will be recognizing the major support and loyalty of Ron MacIver to SME, sent a plaque and supporting documents along with a 50 year SME Pin for him. Dave Rosenfield was honored to make the presentation on behalf of the Chapter and of SME Global. Ron MacIver is currently in his 58th year of membership in SME. Ron’s wife, Elfrieda was on hand to take part in the celebration.
