The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) South LA/ Orange County Chapter 233 conducted the first technology talk event for the year 2021 on Friday, February 26th, from 2 PM to 3 PM (PST). The event was conducted virtually via the Zoom platform. The topic for the tech talk was ‘3D Printing and the Future of Manufacturing’ with a focus on the emerging area of 3D Bioprinting and Biofabrication technologies. The guest speaker for the event was Soham Wadnap, who is currently working as an Applications Engineer at XYZprinting (https://www.xyzprinting.com/). The event was open to all the members of SME Chapter 233, which includes industry professionals, students, educators, researchers, and other manufacturing enthusiasts in the SoCal region. During the event, the speaker presented valuable information on the latest developments and future directions of additive manufacturing, along with insights into how XYZprinting plays a part in boosting the value of 3D printing in current and future manufacturing markets. Dr. Sagil James (Chair, SME Chapter 233) was the host and coordinated the event activities. The event also included a Q&A discussion session that allowed audiences to interact with the speaker and the other attendees. A total of 30 people attended the event.
