Kicking off 2019 with a revisit to Ohio Elastomers after 4 years. Refreshments will be served.
Rubber molding, however common, is one of the more unusual processes in today's industrial world. The cross-linking of the latex isomer through vulcanization creates elasticity, which is critical to its functionality. No other material offers the breadth of visco-elastic characteristics that rubber has.
Ohio Elastomers's main products are based on compounds "tuning" this visco-elasticity, in applications that range from high elasticity to high viscosity. The former find applications in energy conservation, such as shear mounts. The latter in energy dissipation via heat, such as shock pads. Most applications benefit from some of both.
Principle products are shear mounts, chevron mounts, compressions mounts, jounces, bushings, vibration dampeners and shock pads; but there are a host of others, such as friction wheels and fluid seals. Ohio Elastomers with discuss the science and engineering involved, the products molded and the processes to mold them. In addition, there will be the supporting metal working and finishing operations as well as quality controls (Ohio Elastomers in ISO-9001-2015 registered.)
