Celebration And Recognition To Mr. Ron Mac Iver - 58 Years Of SME Membership

SME would like to extend its congratulations to Ron Mac Iver, who is celebrating 58 years of SME membership!
Ron has been an active SME member since he joined a student chapter at Santa Monica City College in April 1960. He was one of the founding members of the new student chapter and served as its first secretary for two years. This new chapter was sponsored by SME’s South Bay Area Chapter 153 and Douglas Aircraft. During Ron’s 50 years of SME membership, he has served in a variety of roles.
Ron was editor of the Los Angeles & Ventura County Chapter 173 newsletter, the “SME Informer,” which began as the Region 12 newsletter. He is currently the Orange Coast CASA/SME Chapter 233 treasurer. During his long tenure with SME, Ron’s worked with student chapters, served as a WESTEC Manufacturing Challenge contest judge and as a recruiter for SME membership. He has held many positions in manufacturing, tool engineering and manufacturing engineering at North American Aviation, Rockwell Aviation and Northrop Grumman Corp. In 2012, Ron received SME’s Award of Merit.

When things got tight because of a shortage of volunteers to help with any of the chapter’s projects, Ron would never think twice about rolling up his sleeves, pitching in and leading by example.
The precious few members like Ron, who have achieved this distinction, are one of the most valuable resources and assets a volunteer organization can have and should be recognized and honored for all members to see at any given opportunity.”

“At a time when Ron should be slowing down and smelling the roses, he’s still juggling many plates. He serves the communities of La Palma and Cypress, California, and is extremely involved.
In his retirement, he has time which must be filled productively. Running Chapter 233 business operations is very high on his priority list. Remembering and acknowledging other SME members’ milestones is part of his daily activities as well.
