9 students from the Drexel Engineering Technology department visited Jabil Manufacturing facility located in West Chester PA on 3-3-2020. Students were led by Yalcin Ertekin, Faculty advisor for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Student Chapter S058, and Guy Sappington who is the student chapter 058 chair. Students were hosted by Kelly Reid, ET alumni working as a manufacturing engineer at Jabil. Jabil Brandywine produces a broad portfolio of products for the trauma and spine markets, as well as minimally invasive surgical procedures. Additionally, patient-specific orthopedic plates and implant products manufactured on-site are shipped directly to hospitals. Students were able to observe and interact with different metallic and polymer materials produced using CNC machining operations including tooling and quality control checks, clean room applications, and lean production.
