Our host for today’s event is Chris Hergott of XL Tool Inc. Chris is Vice-President of operations at XL Tool. For twenty-five years, XL Tool has provided the expertise to machine and manufacture complex components for the Nuclear, Automotive, and Oil & Gas industries. From machining complex nuclear parts requiring N285 or N299 quality, or servicing the automotive and various other industries building precision dies and tooling, to designing and creating one-of-a-kind prototypes.
Chris is also President of CTMA https://www.ctma.com Canadian Tooling and Machining Association. Chris and the CTMA have achieved great success advocating for training in the Manufacturing sector.
Today we will begin with a plant tour of XL Tool, from 4 to 5 pm. After, we will make our way to the Concordia Club. Beginning at 6 pm Chris will give a brief presentation. Topics will include an overview of CTMA activities relating to manufacturing sector in Canada, an update as to the status of apprenticeships in Ontario and Canada, and an update to the successful program launched in our schools to supply machinery and training for students in our high schools. We want to hear their story, with the thought in mind that SME and our members can help spur the movement along, and see what can be achieved in the future. This promises to be a very exiting evening of information and collaboration.
Resfreshments and food a la carte are availible for purchase at the Concordia Club restaurant.
There is a $10 fee to attend this event.
