Plant Tour MSAM Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Lab

Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Lab is one of the largest research and development additive manufacturing facilities in the world,  hosted by the University of Waterloo. The MSAM, newly located at Catalyst137 is a premier Canadian academic research and development centre focusing on next generation additive manufacturing processes. The researchers at MSAM explore novel techniques to develop advanced materials, innovative products, modeling and simulation tools, monitoring devices, closed-loop control systems, quality assurance algorithms and holistic in-situ and ex-situ characterization techniques.

The MSAM research focuses on eight different research themes, spanning the development of feedstock materials, improvements to existing printers and AM applications development. MSAM is working closely with industrial partners to determine the best technology and process parameters in creating custom parts using AM techniques.

Today we will see such additive manufacturing equipment, such as: Powder-Bed Fusion, Directed Energy Deposition, Material Jetting, Binder Jetting, Aerosol Jetting, and Material Extrusion.
