Simplified supply chain arguments have explained how 3D Printing could be used instead of injection molding. In this lecture, an explanation of hybrid supply chain models will explain how 3D Printing could be used to complement of injection molding. With the current world situation, adding 3D printing to the part manufacturing tool kit could help mitigate disruptions in the supply chain. Further explanation of the longer-term Megatrends, and how advances in technology like data analytics/machine learning/artificial intelligence, robotics/automation, 3D Printing/Functional Materials, Digital Manufacturing, Smart Devices/Industrial IoT, and Generative Design will eventually change the world we live in. Success stories, including designs for preventing the spread of disease, will be presented.
