SME Chapter 423 is excited to host a guided tour of Koffler Boats!
Koffler Boats is a local family owned and operated manufacturer that has been in operation for over 50 years. They make a variety of fishing boat styles including drift, power, sled, and offshore boats and trailers. The manufacturing facility has 7 weld stations, 4 install stations, and 2 stations for trailers and motor services. This is an excellent chance to tour a facility that makes everything but the upholstery!
Of particular interest will be the fabrication area. Aluminum is a unique material with properties that vary widely by alloy and temper. Fabrication with aluminum demands special preparation and welding techniques. Koffler’s designs utilize several very tough and durable aluminum alloys, including 6061-T6, 5086-H32, and 5052-H32.
Tour is open to SME professional and student members. We are limited to a maximum of 10 participants on a first come first serve basis. RSVP to smechap423@gmail.com prior to 3/1/2024 to reserve your spot on the tour. Upon confirmation of your RSVP you will get additional tour details (such as PPE), and directions to the facility.
