Advanced Aircraft Company (AAC) is an aeronautical engineering and aircraft manufacturing company based in Hampton, VA.  AAC produces vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial systems (UAS) targeting commercial, government, and military markets.
  • The HAMR UAS, is a hybrid electric multi-rotor that can carry 4 lbs of payload for 2 hours.
  • The HAMR UAS incorporates a hybrid electric propulsion system, which enables the aircraft to carry about 8 times more useful energy than a battery powered multi-rotor.
  • This long endurance serves our commercial customers by increasing the productivity of their pilots, which enables twice as many acres to be imaged per day, and thus twice as much revenue.

Bill Fredericks is an accomplished aircraft designer who has designed dozens of aircraft, 12 of which have achieved first flight. His two most notable designs are the NASA Greased Lightning and he performed the first conceptual design of what is now called the NASA X-57 Maxwell, a manned aircraft. Fredericks was a valued Aeronautical Engineer while employed at the NASA Langley Research Center in the Aeronautics Systems Analysis Branch. He is the lead inventor on the Greased Lightning patent and led the project from its conceptual design through its successful flight testing.  Bill Fredericks graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He is also a former artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with a rocket artillery battery (HIMARS).
