Summary

Product quality is vital to customer satisfaction. Quality inspections in the Industry 4.0 paradigm present challenges. But, inspections in high volume manufacturing present unique challenges. In this talk, we will discuss the various issues with high-speed inspection how non-contact metrology can be utilized to overcome these challenges.

David is currently Vice President of Engineering at DWFritz Automation, a global provider of high-precision inspection and automation solutions for advanced manufacturing. At DWFritz, he is responsible for leading the Engineering and Project Management teams.

Prior to DWFritz he was with PrecisionHawk, a UAV and remote sensing company that attracted national recognition for adapting Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and LiDAR tech for commercial applications. Previously, David also worked with Panaceutics, a start-up company developing next-gen robotic automation and formulation solutions for personalized pharmaceuticals. David Calderwood is an entrepreneur and inventor with a 30 year track record, and has held executive leadership roles at both Fortune 10 enterprises and start-up companies.

He has been awarded 28 patents. David has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Extreme Teen Leaders (a non-profit leadership training program for teens), guest-lectures on entrepreneurship and start-up environments at the NC State Poole College of Management, and has been a featured speaker in high-tech venues such as IEEE, RoboBusiness, and Spiram Imaging in RTP.
