Quick IMTS Take Away in 10 bullet points.

Published
Hi All,

IMTS is where I get a chance to see what advanced technologies are now ready to change how we need to look at equipment useful life and value across a variety of industries.

I thought I would pass along to my SME colleagues these two “take away” bullet lists that I sent out to my Lending and Finance clients who follow advance manufacturing equipment (see below).

You may find them somewhat useful (or at least amusing).

IMTS returns this September to Chicago and I’m going. If you’re going to be at IMTS, Let’s connect on the show floor.

If you can’t go, tell me what interests you and I’ll put it on my checkout list for review.
Going or Not Going, I hope to hear from you, reach out to me via connect!

  1. Automotive: This is a major industry focus at IMTS, showcasing equipment and technology designed for vehicle manufacturing (CNC, AM, Automation)

  2. Aerospace: Exhibitors at IMTS cater to the aerospace industry's need for high-precision manufacturing processes that can handle complexity and use lightweight materials.

  3. Medical Devices: The medical industry is another key segment, with exhibitors offering precision machining, additive manufacturing, and inspection systems tuned to medical requirements and stringent regulatory standards.

  4. Energy: Offering advanced machining and fabrication technologies designed to handle the tough materials and precision required for the energy sector, (oil and gas, renewable energy, and power generation).

  5. Consumer Products: Manufacturing equipment for consumer products, including electronics, household goods, and packaging, showcasing automation and robotic systems.

Top 5 Production Processes prominently featured at IMTS 2024.
  1. Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): This continues to be a key focus, with equipment for both metal and polymer additive manufacturing being showcased.

  2. CNC Machining: Traditional subtractive manufacturing processes, including turning, milling, and multi-axis machining, remain a cornerstone of IMTS.

  3. Automation and Robotics: This is the hottest topic at this year’s show. It includes robotic systems designed for tasks such as welding, material handling, assembly, and quality inspection.

  4. Metal Forming and Fabrication: This area features equipment for processes such as laser cutting, bending, and stamping.

  5. Inspection and Quality Control: This is Metrology and quality control equipment critical for ensuring production accuracy and consistency.
