One of the major efforts each year for Chapter 216 is the fundraising for and the awarding of the $1000.00 Oscar Rath Scholarship. This scholarship honors Oscar Rath, PhD, who during his lifetime, was a professor at Westchester Community College, an active Chapter 216 member, and a lifelong advocate of learning for those working in the manufacturing field and those just starting to pursue a career in manufacturing.

Each year your generous donations to the Oscar Rath Scholarship Fund award scholarships to students pursuing a career in science and engineering or individuals looking to further their professional development in the field of manufacturing.

In 2024, one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a current SME Chapter 216-member, student member or a current SME Chapter 216 member’s child or grandchild. 

In the past, we awarded multiple scholarships per year. Donations have dropped off in recent years, and we currently only offer one scholarship each year. There are some years where a scholarship was not awarded because no scholarship applications were received. Please do not miss this opportunity; apply today:
